Robert John Hewitt, born in England. Started dancing locally at the age of 6 and aged 11 joined the Royal Ballet School, White Lodge. After graduation from the Royal Ballet Upper School in 1993, moved to Austria to dance with the Ballett der Vereinigte Bühnen, Graz. After a short period (1997-1998) with the Norwegian National Ballet, returned to Austria to dance with the Vienna State Opera Ballet (1998 – 2001), dancing in all the major classical repertoire, and joining the company on tour to Japan, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Israel and throughout Austria.
Since 2004 working as a freelance guest teacher in classical ballet and ballet for contemporary dancers, as well as being on the faculty at The Institute for Dance Arts/Bruckner Privatuniversität Linz. Invitations from abroad include Cullberg Ballet and DOCH in Stockholm, Göteborg Danskompani, Danish Dance Theatre, Henny Jurriens Foundation in Holland, Carte Blanche in Bergen, Proda in Oslo, Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz and Staatstheater Regensburg in Germany, Skånesdansteater in Malmö, Norrdans Sweden, Bolzano Danza, International Summer Festival in Stockholm, Polardans Tromsø as well as accompanying the Austrian Rhythmic Gymnastic Team as Ballet Master to competitions throughout Europe and Asia.
